From 29 September to 1 October 2026, LiT-Met attended the 5 Years EU Cancer Mission: Stronger Through Connection conference in Brussels, represented by four consortium partners: the University of Bologna, Wise Angle Consulting, the European Cancer Organisation and CHU de Liège.

The European Commission-organised event brought together approximately 600 researchers, clinicians, policymakers, patients, industry representatives and innovators to reflect on the progress of the EU Cancer Mission and explore how stronger connections across the European cancer landscape can accelerate progress towards its 2030 goals.

Across its three-day programme, the conference explored the full cancer continuum, from data sharing and AI-enabled research on Day 1, to prevention, early detection and screening on Day 2, and finally diagnosis, treatment, personalised care and the translation of innovation into clinical impact on Day 3.

LiT-Met on Day 3

On Day 3, LiT-Met showcased its work through a project pitch. Matteo Ravaioli, Coordinator of LiT-Met, outlined the project’s vision to generate robust evidence on the role of liver transplantation in colorectal liver metastases and support more personalised treatment decisions across Europe.

He emphasised the project’s innovative, multidisciplinary approach, which combines expertise in transplantation, oncology, artificial intelligence, translational research, health economics and patient engagement within a single clinical research framework.

LiT-Met shared a common focus with projects such as Sagittarius, DEFINITIVE, MONALISA and FORCE in advancing cancer diagnosis and treatment through innovative, patient-centred approaches that aim to improve outcomes and support more personalised care.

Collectively, the Day 3 pitches highlighted the value of bringing diverse expertise together to address different challenges across the cancer continuum, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the EU Cancer Mission.

Moreover, conference attendees had the chance to meet LiT-Met partners at the project’s dedicated booth, pick up the project leaflet and learn more about our ambitions and plans ahead.
